Thanks to all those friends that shared pictures of their needlepoint treasures! I really appreciate seeing so many pieces of pretty needlepoint!
4th of July Needlepoint-Pledge Allegiance to it!
Lynn W. from the Washington, D.C. areas sent a picture of her adorable 4th of July collection! Lynn did a wonderful job on her stitching and we all hope to see more additions to the collection in the future. Canvases are from Petei, Kathy Schenkel, Needle Graphics, Rebecca Wood, Barbara Bergsten. I asked Lynn a few things about herself and here is what she wrote:
“I have been stitching for about 30 years, after doing a number of other handcrafts when I was young.
My collection of 4th of July pieces began because we live in the Washington DC area, and summer is all about being in DC for the 4th. I get the collection out for Memorial Day, and leave it out all summer (til Labor Day). I especially love the Uncle Sam figures.
My favorite local shop is Waste Knot, Arlington VA, and the owner, Lori Mazza, is lots of fun to brainstorm with about designers, threads and stitches. I used to do finishing for The Point of It All, a shop in DC, and still finish all my own pieces.
I do have a wonderful husband, 3 sons (all in their 20s now, how did that happen), and 2 dogs and a cat. The dogs are way more supportive of my stitching than the cat – she sits on my chest, making it very hard to stitch! The dogs are willing to admire from a distance!”
Let’s Hang Around with Needlepoint:
Susan N. H. made this door hanger for her son in order to keep monsters out of his room. Susan wrote: “When my son was little it used to hang on his closet door to keep the monsters in the closet. Now it hangs on the inside of his bedroom door, I think to keep the monsters in his room :-).”
The finishing on this ornament is so different from what I have seen and is very cute!

"Scary" monster door hanger, a Renaissance Designs canvas, keeps monster at bay during the night in Susan N.H.'s son's room.
Picture Frame Perfect:
I found 2 more needlepointed frame pictures in my file and they are lovely.
From Gayle A.’s home, she has her frames displayed in her den on a bamboo table. Gayle is so talented at so many things, needlepointing, cooking, entertaining, among many other talents, and I love the way she has artfully arranged her little table.
From Betsy G.’s home. a frame with carrots, radishes, and a cabbage. That dark background is so dramatic!
House in the Texas Hill Country:
Seems I did not get all the owners’ pictures sent to my email so here are follow up up photos.

This fabulous piece covers a footstool at the Texas Hill country home of Marianne and Carter. Truly an elegant piece!
GOING TO THE DOGS:
A very cute needlepointed canvas photo from Mark S., an avid and wonderful needlepointer, depicting his 2 rescue dogs, appeared in my email. He changed the colors of the pups to look like his best friends and told me a story about them. Here is what Mark said: “I adopted them together from West Alabama vet clinic where a client found them running together and brought them in. I had to find a “couple” name so they are Ricky and Lucy. Ricky is the white male and Lucy the black female. She clearly had been abused but such a sweetie. He’s just all boy.”
Mark had his canvas finished as a leash holder for these 2 lucky dogs!
NEEDLEPOINT on FURNITURE:
I received several messages from friends about needlepoint chairs after my needlepoint furniture post and I kept seeing lots of posts on needlepoint chairs!
On the American Needlepoint Guild web site, I found this wonderful Alice in Wonderland chair. Here is the link where you can read more about this outstanding chair:

WALL HANGING:
My friend that house a house in the Texas Hill Country has a wall hanging in her country breakfast room. “Table Manners” is the name of this canvas and this is a perfect place to hang it!
If you have anything you would like for me to post on my blog, please email information to NeedlepintingInYourNest@gmail.com. I would love to see your precious needlepoint!
